True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet move

. So I’m wondering… What does that mean to us? How will it affect ebook readers and e-published writers.

Part of me wants to think that NY and the movers and shakers of the publishing and bookselling world are finally reading the writing on the wall. They have smelled the coffee and awakened to the 21st century. Ebooks are the wave of the future. They will eventually be the primary media whether we like it or not. As much as I love my paperbacks, the tree-huggers will eventually make paper books a thing of the past.

Don’t get me wrong, I love ebooks, too.  It’s just that I currently don’t own (and can’t afford) an ebook reader or one of those fancy digital devices like a Palm Pilot or iPhone that will read them. I read ebooks on my laptop, and that works fine at home, but it’s a hassle to try and take it with you. Paperbacks are far more portable.

Clerks II move

Anyway, if the “powers that be” of the publishing world have finally gotten with the program, that’s a good thing for epublished authors and fans of ebooks. It would mean more recognition, more exposure, more acceptance, more respect…

But there’s a little part of me I think of as my “inner cynic” or my “closet conspiracy theorist” that wonders if B&N thinks it can kill the competition by buying them out.  LOL

Anybody watching Idol this season?

The Picture of Dorian Gray hd I don’t watch a lot of television.  I catch the occasional episode of Ghost Whisperer, CSI, or Law & Order. That new one, Lie to Me, is pretty good.  I’ve watched it a time or two. But I haven’t watched any of them with any regularity. I’m always too busy with writing, networking, promotion, or reading.

However, there are a couple of shows I seldom miss.  American Idol is one. (And if you’re wondering, Survivor is the other.) Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else out there is an Idol nut?  I don’t know why I like the show so much. I hate that during air time, there are almost as many minutes of commercials as there are of the show itself.  LOL  But I have to watch.

The Astronaut’s Wife rip Where the Heart Is release

So far this season, my favorite — hands down — is Danny. I really like his smokey voice. He seems like such a nice guy, too. Okay, okay. I have to admit the story of his wife passing away does tug at the heartstrings. But beyond that? Dang. That guy can sing!

Syriana trailer

There are a few others I like well enough. So far, all those who’ve made it to the top twelve do have some talent.

So what do think? Who’s your favorite this time? Are you even watching?

Welcome to My New Blog!

Death on the Nile Today is launch day!  I hope you like the layout, but don’t get too attached to it.  LOL  One of the things I love about the updated WordPress program is how easy it is to change the style.  Hmmm… Wonder if I can find a pattern for St. Patrick’s Day?  Oh, and Easter is coming, too!  LOL

I’m disappointed that I was only able to move a few posts from my other blog, but I’ll get over it.  Even though all new posts will be here, I’m leaving the old blog available indefinitely.  There’s a link in menu panel, but here it is again in case you missed my February blog party: The Square Peg
