Slowly… Too slowly.

Well, I thought I’d made it off that weight loss plateau. On March 28th, I posted about how I’d finally recorded a loss of 4 pounds after three weeks of almost no loss at all. Apparently, that 4 pounds was just a step down to the next plateau.

Here it is three weeks later and I’ve lost only 2 more pounds.  I know, I know.  Two more pounds is a good thing, but I’ve really been working hard, and I’ve seriously been hoping for at least a pound a week. I mean really. Is one pound a week such an unrealistic goal? I’m still counting every calorie and I’m still working out regularly. I’ve even increased the intensity- level 2 on the Stairmaster now, 7 points more resistance on the elliptical, and more weights on the AbCoaster.

It seems like the harder I work at trying to lose the weight, the more stubborn that fat becomes. And the more disappointing and depressing. {big sigh} What I need is to go to some place like the people on The Biggest Loser.  You know, where I don’t have to work eight hours sitting at a computer. And I’d have chefs to cook great tasting, low-calorie food for me. No worries about shopping for groceries, what to cook, or how to cook it.  That way I can spend all my time working out, swimming, walking, playing– just doing activities that burn off that fat.  It’s so hard to do it “in real life.”  Shows like The Biggest Loser are billed as “Reality” shows.  NOT!  Show me a woman who works 40+ hours a week at a sit-down job and cooks for her family who can lose 5 pounds a week. Now that’s a reality show I’d like to see. But then, in reality, that would be almost impossible.

Well, I have a doctor’s appointment (just a check-up) on Monday. I’m sure she’ll be very pleased with the 23 or 24 pound loss I’ve achieved thus far. I think I’m going to talk to her about some diet aids. Maybe she can give me something that will help. I know there’s no magic pill, but maybe there’s something that, along with the diet and exercise, will help me burn more calories or increase my metabolism. Years ago, I had some good results with phentermine. Maybe that would help.  It helped before.

  1. Hah. Maybe so, Mary, but I’m not sure it applies to weight loss. LOL I would very much appreciate being able to lose 5 pounds or more a week. 😉
